Rolex Sports Car Series at Road America 2012

Went to the race at Road America again this year. About the 2nd lap the car I went to follow had a horrible wreck and the driver was air lifted out. Ended up being OK and was just kept at the hospital for observation.

Tried the UWA panning again. It makes the car look tiny.

forgot I tried panning at 1/100 at the end of the day. Worked on one more today.

Ha, my fiance got really excited when we were walking through the pits and he walked up along side of us. He definitely had a following there, of a certain sex.

Thanks, I can really see the difference in them compared to the 70-200 f4 IS. I would say my panning got better but last time I panned was at this race last year so it wasn't me.

damn dude, those are great. panning is something I have yet to try. I'm guessing I'd fail miserably, it doesnt seem easy.

Thanks, panning just takes some work. Best pieces of advice I found was point your feet where you will release the trigger and twist your body. Also use the small AF points as markers and try to keep it over something like the car number or a logo the whole time. Those two have greatly improved my panning.

Also IS mode 2 for canon (not sure what it is for Nikon) helps remove any vertical mistakes you make in your motion which makes panning easier also. My new 70-200 2.8 II really shined for this as the IS is really good.
