Matt I know how you feel. Last year we had glass envy big time. We went with a 180 f2.8 with a 2x converter and a 75-300mm f4.5-5.6. This year (mostly because of last years envy) we will be going with a 400mm f5.6 Sigma and a Nikon 300 f4. We have a 1.7x AF teleconverter if we want to add it on. I also got a Gimbal tripod mount for my lenses.

Those are great shots Chi-town. With a 500mm, I get wings clipped.

I might go back this weekend again if the weather cooperates. Today at the dam was way way better than Elgin, weather-wise. And eagle-wise but we know that already.

Here's some that were focused pretty well. I rented the 200-400VR, which seems to be a nice lens. The problem with doing that is now I want to OWN one. It's like the old sales trick the 'puppy dog close' - "just take it home overnight, and if you don't want to keep him, bring him back tomorrow".

It was nice to meet all of you yesterday, I would've liked to spend more time talking, but it was pretty dead. It seems to get cold quicker when there aren't many birds around.

Awesome stuff Ken. Were you there Saturday also? I think we may have been standing pretty close to each other and not known it. There was someone a few people down with a Nikon 200-400 and a pretty nice tripod (Gitzo I think)

Figure out when you want to go, simple as that. I'm going the 16th with Cyber, and after that I'm sure about 4 or 5 more times before the season ends.
