Spent a week out west with the wife and the pooch. We first drove to Colorado to visit some of my siblings in Boulder, then do 3 nights backpacking then head home. Unfortunately dog got pretty sick at altitude so we had to come down after 1 night, so with the extra time we went to the Badlands, which were awesome and I can't recommend enough as a photography destination. While we were in Boulder the fire broke out, which you can see below. Anyways, on to the pics:
1. Group photo in Eldorado Canyon State Park; in the background is the first plume of the Fourmile Canyon fire which continues to burn in Boulder. Pretty crazy that it started on the ridge just behind where we were hiking, only a few miles away: ![]() 2. Snowbank Peak in the Rawah Wilderness, view from our tent door: ![]() 3. Same peak, different perspective: ![]() 4. Chamber Lake: ![]() 5. Closeup of Badlands formation: ![]() 6. Front coming in over the prairie: ![]() 7. Prairie View Overlook: ![]() 8. Sun setting on a rock formation: ![]() 9. Side road off the main loop: ![]() 10. HDR at dusk:

7 is surreal, its great (I love everyday oddities) - two benches in what seems to be an open area overlooking what?.... grass? |

Thanks everyone; carlina, the benches are somewhat random; you have to walk out to this platform a few hundred feet from the parking lot, and it overlooks the prairie and rolling hills on either end.
