they seem to be pricing about the same right now. (assuming D600 is $1500ish).
I've seen a few D700s on nikoncafe in this range. people are starting to dump them as they get the D800 thoughts? |

totally depends on if the D600 has an internal focus motor or not. If not then I wouldn't touch it.

I thought the newest updated rumor says it does? so assuming it does....?

The "leaked" photos had an internal motor. If all the features are similar and the price is as well, i would always go with the newer sensor

Pretty good bet that at $1500, the D600 won't have all the features of the D700. I would wait until the D600 is actually announced before deciding whether or not to get one so you can decide on whether it has all the bells and whistles you need. Unless the $$ is burning a hole in your pocket or something, in which case the "Buy Scott Lewis Lots of Expensive Stuff" charity is always accepting donations.
The rumored specs are that the D600 will have an internal AF motor, which I think I posted previously somewhere.

this $1500 price tag really has be a tad skeptical. I read on nikoncafe that if wont have the "pro" body as the other FX nikon bodies. it will be lighter plastic (or something). I can live with that.
but yea, its not very announced yet. |

So it will be more like the D90 layout vs the Dx00 series layout. I am a little snobby when it comes to button layout, so switching back from the D200 and D700 to something completely different would really bother me. |

no no. I believe the button layout with me the same, just the physical body will not be as strong as other pro bodies. but of course no one really knows yet.

yeah, wait to see all the specs before making such a decision... and I would suggest waiting, because the D600 could very well be what you are looking for.
cost-wise, I think it's very possible. look at the cost of the D800, quite reasonable for what you get (a medium format killer DSLR). half that price for a less featured and less-megapixel version? yeah I can see that happening. |
