Default lets see what can be done

a shot from downtown that wish would have come out better, unfortunately I wasn't able to see how bad it was on the camera.

You can do plenty, although the building that's lit up will probably get blown out.

Even with a RAW file it would be hard to recover those highlights. I tried with the Jpeg and there is some detail left but not very much.

It's not your fault, tell those idiots in that bright building to turn some lights off.

Agreed. Shot from the top floor of the Hotel Intercontinental after having a bit too much sangria on my birthday and hanging out the hotel window.

Since I opened my mouth, and took the day off (this is better than cleaning out the garage) A quick and dirty edit

selected the Trib building (poorly I might add) and made it the focus. desaturated the background and thew in some blur to put the overexposed Wrigley out of sight in the middle.

Otherwise, played with sharpening to compensate for the camera shake and hue to take out the overpowering orange feel of the original.

Good edit, never would have thought of that route.

AS they say, "when you have a problem shot - make it Black & White"

Converted using Silver Efex, Red Filter & light Sepia tone. Brightened up the Trib building just a touch.

can't say that I hate it - clever way to deal with the always blown out Tribune Tower.

nice!
