Lisle is pretty far west. I grew up in Westmont.

Allegedly there's been some eagles spotted on the fox river here in north aurora. I saw what I think to be an eagle, but I was driving, and was unable to stop and confirm.
I like brookfield zoo for zoo photos, but not really sure about butterflies. Deer are all over the place around here, but the only place I know that has a lot regularly is Resurrection cemetery.

I grew up in Westmont too. Born at Hinsdale Hospital and lived on Cass Ave until I was around 22 or so. Do we know each other possibly?? Quote:
Best zoo to take pics: Brookfield Zoo. Too much stuff to see in one day, plenty of stuff to shoot. Lincoln Park Zoo: Gotten way better than when I was a kid. A great variety of animals. Cosley Zoo: Good to blow an hour. Kinda has a farm-feel. They've got a great duck pond, red-tailed hawks (big ones), several different types of owls, etc.. A decent spot to take kids and get shots. Willowbrook Wildlife Center: A good place to burn an hour or two. Good selection of animals. They've got a bald eagle and golden eagle, hawks, a peregrine falcon, owls, etc.. A decent nature trail, where you can see a variety of birds native to Illinois as well as migratory birds during the right seasons. Little Red Schoolhouse: Nature all the way. A huge set of trails to walk through, taking you around a big lake. You'll see deer, plenty of great birds, like eastern bluebirds, swallows, indigo bunting, heron, egret, etc.. You might get lucky and see a fox or coyote. plan on a good hike and a few hours. Phillips Park Zoo: Nice little place, decent variety of animals, horrible habitats for shooting. Double-fencing, high walls, dirty windows, etc.. You can get good shots there, but it's a pain in the neck sometimes. Butterflies: Brookfield is one of those places you go and say "Eh, I've seen better.". The spot where Jeff has been going, Peggy Hobart Museum, is the spot to be for butterflies, that place is dedicated. Eagles: You want to see eagles, go to Lock&Dam #14 or Lock&Dam #13. Anywhere you go around here, or in your area, you'll be lucky, very lucky, to see an eagle. Go to the locks and you'll see plenty. Deer: Either go through Bemis Woods, or go to Morton Arboretum. Bemis has plenty of deer, you just have to either get lucky and catch them when they're out, or go through the bike trails and look for them. The Arboretum is good, but there you need a bit of luck sometimes. So many people go through there that the deer tend to hide. If they're still out there, you might see a ton of white deer at Argonne Nat Lab. When I was younger we used to go out there, and the field by the lab would be filled, thousands of white deer. I don't know about now though. Oh, and welcome to the site.
