Default Mayor Daley.....

NOT running for reelection. going to be very weird not having him as Mayor. I also don't understand why so many haters popped up in recent times.

I have always really liked him.

I think he has done a lot for the city.

The "haters" have popped up due to some recent projects or moves he has made. You make big changes and you are bound to piss some people off.

O'Hare expansion, selling the parking meters are two that come to mind off the top of my head.

true. personally, I think selling the parking meters was a great idea. (the only bad thing was he sold it for too low a price).

I love that spots are actually available. its supply and demand at its finest, I'm all for it.

I don't mind the parking situation either, even if I have to pay what, $6 to park for a couple of hours? come on please? that's nothing to park in Chicago. and also, be able to find a spot.

I know many people didn't like what he did to Meigs field and how he went about doing it.

He sold it for to low of a price for to long of a time. I heard what LPZ (I think thats right) made for a profit last year and it was quite large. I think they are going to make their money back pretty quick. And Daley already spent the money that he got with 69 years to go.

Theres another example. Millenium Park would go on the list too. Although it has turned out to be a great thing for the city, he pissed a lot of people off in getting it done.

Daley caused controversy in May 2010 when, after Mick Dumke, a reporter for the Chicago Reader, questioned the effectiveness of the city's handgun ban, Daley picked up a gun and told him, "If I put this up your butt -- you'll find out how effective it is." He made the statement at a news conference where he was talking about gun control and a possible adverse decision in the McDonald v. Chicago case.

I've been critical of him (mainly on transit issues), but I at least acknowledge that he's done a lot for the city.

Damn, not running for re-election? This will be odd indeed

LOL nice.

I guess thats one thing Daley took a little too far, trying to ban guns in Chicago. um hello, its in our Constitution. but I understand why he did it. Chicago, year in and year out, has too much gun violence but banning guns really doesnt do much to curb that.

He did a lot of great things for this city; he kept it running, god, remember the chaos of Washington and council wars. I'm going to miss him and hope for the best. He made us a Global City.
