I'll toss up a few more over the next week or so, as I edit slowly.

Here are four edits on a photo I shot in Old Montreal. I'd love to hear opinions on the different techniques.

SOOC:

A B&W conversion of the above photo:

4-shot HDR (I took a 3-shot, of which the highest exposure was still underexposed (above), duplicated that one, and boosted exposure, then did the HDR):

A B&W conversion of the HDR:

All HDR was done in CS5. I don't do much HDR, but wanted to play around with it...what do you think?

I've literally never done any actual "jobs" so I have no idea what to look at here. My apartment complex has liked some of the stuff I've taken and posted on Facebook and have asked me to do some exterior and model apartment shots. I don't have a lot of specifics because, frankly, I don't even know what to ask.

What do you guys think? What questions should I be asking and what should I quote them for the job?

Thanks!

Hello everyone,

I'm parting ways with my 1st Generation Apple iPad. It's the 16GB model, black and Wi-Fi only. Comes with all the original contents (charger, paperwork, box) and an iPad case with dust cloth. Also has a Zagg front screen protector on it.

I'm the original owner and the iPad has been in the case and has had the screen protector on it since day 1. I noticed there is a small dent in the back, which can be seen in the image of the back of the iPad, just above the Apple logo. Never knew it was there! Other than the small dent, it's in great condition, no scratches or anything. It works great, haven't any issues with it. It will be reset to the factory defaults when you receive it.

I just don't use it anymore and it needs a new home.

PRICE: $175 (cash preferred, otherwise paypal)

SHIPPING: Ideally, I'd like to meet in person so we don't have to worry about shipping. I will ship however if we can't meet up.

ANY questions, please let me know!

Thanks,
Dwane

Nikon D400 Coming with Expeed 4 Processor and New AF System

According to latest rumors, Nikon engineers have been working on a new generation EXPEED 4 processor and advance AF system for the D400, the upcoming camera will also feature LARGE BUFFER, newly developed 24 MP DX format CMOS sensor and advance video mode compared to Nikon D7100.
The current focus is to push as many D7100 sales as possible + Nikon is also waiting for Canon 7D Mk II arrival, as we know the 7D Mk II is rumored to be announced on Q1 of 2014, so we may see Nikon D400 in Q4 of 2013 (probably in September). I am sure that Nikon will announce its D400 camera Just before the announcement of Canon 7D Mk II to dominate the global APS-C DSLR market.

The Chicago Sun-Times has laid off its entire photography staff, and plans to use freelance photographers going forward, the newspaper said.
About 20 full-times staffers received the news Thursday morning, according to sources familiar with the situation.

The newspaper released a statement suggesting the move reflected the increasing importance of video in news reporting:

"The Sun-Times business is changing rapidly and our audiences are consistently seeking more video content with their news. We have made great progress in meeting this demand and are focused on bolstering our reporting capabilities with video and other multimedia elements. The Chicago Sun-Times continues to evolve with our digitally savvy customers, and as a result, we have had to restructure the way we manage multimedia, including photography, across the network."

My desktop PC is crapping out and my wife says I have to get a new computer. I use the computer mostly for surfing the net, photo editing, digital music and linking to my PS3 in the theater. I use a seperate 1 TB hard drive for storing my photos. She thinks that I should get a laptop with a docking station instead of a desktop. As you may have figured out when it comes to computers my knowledge is pretty limited. I could really use some help from you computer geeks. I really need the advice from people who use CS6, Lightroom,Nik etc. I think the people at Best Buy would have know idea what I really need.
